Private 1975 Xian Folk LP from David Veglahn out of Loma Linda, CA.
A fantastic album front-to-back.
All music and lyrics are original (and great) compositions written by David.
Mellow, minimal loner folk with sparse but rich orchestral accompaniment.

Tructuated and captivating LP, it has twelve chapters. Nine ("Hot Metal", "Brecklandia", ...) are devoted to folk music of rare beauty and delicacy. The other three are oratorical interludes by Geoff Warren, who is also present alongside the tightrope walker John Crisp on "Hot Metal".

To my ears this is one of the of the best Acid Folk albums committed to vinyl. Very little has been written about this magnificent album. Hopefully this will get a bit more recognition as anyone into whimsical folk will absolutely love this ! (review by Alex Kerner on YouTube)

Ultra rare LP released by Charlie Webster in 1978 on the little Planet Records label (Catalog number : PR 002). It seems this was a run of only 250 pressings by Planet Records based in Doncaster and the music is inspired by the American author William S. Burroughs.

Attending Cheltenham Art College in the mid-'60s Johnny Cropping and fellow student/guitarist Al Fenn had been in the band Love To Mother. Fenn introduced Cropping to fellow student/guitarist Dave Bell and the pair began writing and playing together under the name Decameron. By 1969 Decameron had expanded to include Fenn on guitar and violin player Geoff March. The quartet slowly began establishing a reputation on the UK club circuit, the members eventually realizing they might be able to make a living in music.
The band's big break came when they were signed by Vertigo, making their recording debut in 1973 with the Sandy Robertson produced "Say Hello To the Band". At this point, a word of warning. If you see this one listed as a progressive album, it's not. These guys were English folk-rockers. Having listened to the album dozens of times over the years, I'm at a loss to find anything even remotely progressive in these grooves. Long meandering jams ? None. Wonking synthesizers ? None. Intricate melodies with lots of torturous shifts ? None. Nah, these guys were better described as an accomplished set of English folk-rockers who were at their best when they upped the rock part of their recipe. Imagine Fairport Convention, or The Strawbs if they'd occasionally indulged their rock and roll demons and you'd get a feel for their repertoire. With Bell and Coppin responsible for the eight original tracks, other than the plodding acoustic ballads 'Judith' and 'The Moon's In "A"' there weren't any truly bad song on the album. Their more traditional English folk numbers like 'Byard's Leap' and 'Innocent Sylvester Prime' weren't going to appeal to everyone, but they grew on you with time. At least for me, the highlights came in the form of folk-rockers like the radio-friendly title track, 'Crows', the single 'Stoat's Grope', and the closer 'Shine Away'.

Gérard Ducos est arrivé en Bretagne à 20 ans, par Brest, par la mer ce qui représente une originalité plus grande qu'il ne l'imagine. Autre originalité, il n'était pas Breton, il venait d'un pays "qui sent la résine et le sable chaud" : les Landes.
Il a débarqué en Armorique par hasard, le hasard de la Royale, et il y est resté, "aspiré", comme il se plait à le souligner, par des forces mystérieuses accentuant les contrastes des lignes et des caractères, aspiré par une ferveur, une communion non déclarées que dégageaient l'Armor et l'Argoat autour de la poésie à l'aube de l'âge d'or culturel breton des années 70. Il y est resté, la guitare à la main, la pauvreté au ventre, la poésie et l'indignation contre les injustices au coeur.
Il y a fondé une famille avec Annie, la fille de Brest-Recouvrance, petite-fille d'un tonnelier de Glomel, et ils se sont installés, aspirés une fois de plus, voici tout juste trente années, au sein de l'une des campagnes les plus profondes de la Bretagne profonde : celle des Monts d'Arrée. Gérard Ducos rassemble tous les talents dont celui de l'amitié et de la reconnaissance pour ceux qui l'encouragèrent à ses débuts : Glenmor "au regard bleu transperçant le fond de l'âme", Bernard Guillemot devenu plus tard libraire-éditeur, Serge Kerguiduff avec qui il partageait les soirées dans les cafés-épiceries-vicissitudes-de-la-vie... Il cultive tous les talents : peintre, compositeur, interprète, poète, principalement poète. Sa poésie, teintée d'âme, comment pourrait-il en être autrement, est une poésie de lutte, de contestation, de révolte, d'humour aussi. D'amour surtout. Il y a du Tristan Corbière dans la guitare de notre Landais.
