Rick Fielding - Solo (Rare 1976 Canadian Private Singer Songwriter LP)

Rick Fielding is a strongly tradition-oriented songmaker from Toronto, Ontario, a superb multi-instrumentalist, and a darned fine singer.
This 'Solo' LP is his first release from 1976 and it's a very great LP.

Growing up in Montreal in the 1960’s in a musical family, Rick was influenced by musicians like Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee, Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Rev. Gary Davis, Pete Seeger, Josh White, and The Weavers. After moving to Toronto in 1969, Rick quickly became a fixture on the Toronto folk festival and club scene, where he met and worked with musicians like Gordon Lightfoot, Ian and Silvia, Tom Paxton, Arlene Mantle, and dozens of others.
Rick toured extensively throughout Canada and the U.S. as a solo performer, establishing himself as a favourite at folk clubs and festivals.

Rick Watson - The Light Shines On (Very rare 1979 US Private Xian Folk LP)

From somewhere in the middle of North Dakota comes this excellent artsy custom of acoustic rock, lonesome folk meditations and rough-hewn out-doorsy rural rock.
Nice unrefined bluesy electric guitar graces the latter, while the folk-edged material is delivered with the beauty and sensitivity of early Bruce Cockburn often enveloped with a stark solemn presence.
Rick plays acoustic and electric guitar and wrote all the twelve titles, including ‘Candles Burn in the Distance’, ‘The Rich Man and Lazarus’, ‘Lady Sleeps With the Light On’, ‘Whistler of Darkness and Dawn’, ‘Sea of Mystery’, and ‘Out of the Storm Into the Sun’.
Additional instruments includes bass, fiddle (one song), harmony vocals, and synthesizer (sounding pleasantly trippy on the title track).
Remarkable b&w cover design/ graphics.
(Review from The Archivist, 4th edition, by Ken Scott).

Really an excellent album we have here … and very rare.
The folk-edged tracks are my favourites but the whole album is very consistent.

Record : VG+ (because there's a slight warp that doesn't affect the play)

Brian Byrne - Sweet Carnloch Bay (1982 reissue on Harp of this 1973 Irish Folk masterpiece)

The track listing on the cover did not match the vinyl on the 1973 original edition on Hawk.
This 1982 reissue on Harp (HPE 652) features a new title 'Sweet Carnloch Bay' and new cover artwork which misspells Brian's name as 'Bryan Byrne' .
This is rectified on the label.

Here the track listing on the cover match the vinyl but they removed the track B1 (The Lark in the Morning) on the reissue.
Well (in my opinion) it was the weakest track on the Hawk issue.

Tracklist :

Side One
A1 Carnloch Bay
A2 The Town is not Their Own
A3 Next Market Day
A4 Lakes of Coolfin
A5 John Barleycorn
A6 Coulter's Candy

Side Two
B1 The Wind that Shakes the Barley
B2 Magherafelt May Fair
B3 Droop All the Flowers
B4 Handsome Sally
B5 The Parting Glass
