Bards of the Barleycorn - When Granma Used to Call (1977 Private UK Acid Folk masterpiece)

Tructuated and captivating LP, it has twelve chapters. Nine ("Hot Metal", "Brecklandia", ...) are devoted to folk music of rare beauty and delicacy. The other three are oratorical interludes by Geoff Warren, who is also present alongside the tightrope walker John Crisp on "Hot Metal".

The Bards of the Barleycorn :
John Crisp - Vocals, guitar, accordion, keyboard
Geoff Warren - Recitation
John Lord - Flute, saxophone, slide, harmonica, bass
Phil Crisp - Violin, mandolin, keyboard

Music composed by John Crisp
Recitations written by Geoff Warren
Lyrics written by John Crisp & Geoff Warren

Listen : A1. Brecklandia

B7. Father William

A3. Hot Metal

A4. Poverty Belt

To my ears this is one of the of the best Acid Folk albums committed to vinyl. Very little has been written about this magnificent album. Hopefully this will get a bit more recognition as anyone into whimsical folk will absolutely love this ! (review by Alex Kerner on YouTube)

Definitely a true masterpiece in my humble opinion !
