Pat's People with Al Purcell - Some Say The Devil's Dead (Great 1980 US Private Folk LP)

Their 3rd LP, more traditional but still a great LP.   I think this was their last recording as Pat's People.

Pat's People - Silver Rains Afar (Excellent 1976 US Private Folk Psych LP)

Pat's People were an exceptional UK/Irish Folk band with several quite rare private press LPs:

"An Irish Night At The Gaelic League An Irish American Lounge"(1974) ... much more traditional folk style but still raw and homemade vibe. They add a very specific feeling and approach to traditional Irish folk songs. Less psychedelic but worth listening for context or if you love Irish music.

"Silver Rains Afar" (1976) LP.... probably the best and most psychedelic, several beautifully dark folk songs with psychedelic undertones accompanied with some jigs/reels. Amazing LP in my opinion.

"Some Say The Devil's Dead"(1980) ... Another more traditional but still great LP. I think this was their last recording as Pat's People.

Listen : A6. December Sequel

The whole album : Silver Rains Afar

Some very great tracks on this one !
My favourites : A6. "December Sequel", A5. "The Bogs Of Sean O Riva", B2. "Ellen Vannin", A2. "The Haughs O' Cromdale", ...
An excellent album in my opinion !

Steve & Ed - Dream Song (Rare 1975 US Psych Folk masterpiece)

Very great Psych Folk LP recorded in 1975 by Steve Hicks and Ed Rosiek.

A surprisingly good folk-pop LP on the vanity label Century that I picked up recently due to my "leave no stock cover behind" compulsion. The notes say it was recorded in a Los Angeles area church, and it has a sort of cavernous low-fi sound quality that I quite enjoy. Very soothing Simon & Garfunkel-esque harmonies on most tracks, with sparse, acoustic heavy arrangements. Recorded in 1975, but tracks like "I Love The Rain" could easily pass for late 60′s to my ears. The majestic, spoken title track is nice as well. (from waxidermy)

Listen : B1. Dream SongA2. I Love the Rain & A5. Where You Belong & A6. Susan (And With Her Comes Spring) & A1. There's No Gettin' Off NowA3. When I Was a Boy + B5. The Dream That Never Was

A top fave of mine ! Excellent LP from start to finish !!!

Jed - Merlin's Song (Very rare 1982 US Private Psych Folk masterpiece)

"Mystical, medieval folk songs played and sung very convincingly. And unlike some in the genre, I'm under the suspicion that the psych aspect is unintentional, but rather a natural setting for the songs that were written. This was recorded as some kind of educational project for a Florida based program specializing in all things from the Arthurian period. As far as the music, it's beautiful minor key folk with intricately woven male and female vocals. Fans of bands like Stone Angel, etc. would do well to track this down. Makes you want to dance with the jester". (taken from discogs)

Listen : A1. The Michaeline Hymn & A2. Winter's Glade & A3. The Palmer & A4. Rhiannon & B1. Riddling Maid & B2. Sand Dancer & B3. Morgan LeFay & B4. The Ballad of Bedivere & B5. Merlin's Song

The whole album : Jed - Merlin's Song

Another of my top ten "desert island" LPs.
Don't miss this one, just 300 of these made way back then and very rare now !
