Manguinot Ba Shira - ST (Very rare 1976 Argentinian Psych Folk LP on Londisc)

 

 

Manguinot Ba Shira is an extremely rare hebrew acid folk project located at Argentina, who recorded just one LP, at the private label Londisc. That record label was specialized in the release of hebrew stuff, both made in Argentina and in foreign countries. But maybe this is the most interesting Londisc release by far.

The music of Manguinot Ba Shira is very beautiful and complex at the same time. Male/female voices in hebrew, long instrumental parts, lots of flutes, acoustic guitars and even some synths. A must for lovers of rare acid folk, psych, prog and private pressings.

Blue Anchor - Plenty Love & Bacon (Rare 1979 UK Folk LP on Workhorse Records)

 

 

I recently discovered that amazing UK Folk band through the Various Artists release "Some Cleveland & Dales Folk Volume 1" issued in 1976 on Pied Piper Records (with 7 great songs played by Blue Anchor).

I loved so much Blue Anchor's music that I bought their 1979 LP titled "Plenty Love & Bacon" issued on Workhorse records.

Fourpenny Bridge - Etton Alive / An Evening With Fourpenny Bridge (Rare 1975 UK Folk on Workhorse Records)

 

 

The only album by Spriguns of Tolgus-style five-piece folk rock band led by the late guitarist/singer Mike Soar, who recorded a very rare album (Our Side Of The Bridge) for Westwood in 1972 before forming Fourpenny Bridge. When that band broke up in 1975, they recorded this as a souvenir/memorial LP for their local fans. Lovely instrumental mix with recorder, bowed psaltery, mandolin, cymbals as well as guitars, electric bass, drums, etc ... Vocals are mainly male with the female band member contributing strong backing vocals on several songs as well as a stunning lead vocal on the beautiful ‘Ranters Wharf’ that makes you wonder why she didn’t sing lead on the rest of the LP ! Spellbinding versions of ‘The Two Musicians’, ‘Poverty Knocks’, ‘Staines Morris’, ‘The Cutty Wren’ etc, often has a general Pentangle/Steeleye/ Fairports feel, beautifully played and sung and with memorable band arrangements.
