John Winch - I Am a Free and Travelling Man (Very rare 1981 UK Folk LP released in Germany on Brutkasten)

 

Sometime in the late 1970s, says John, "A friend offered me two tours in Bavaria, Germany.
They were very successful and in the early 1980s this gave me the idea to move to Germany on a permanent basis."
In fact in 1981 John put out an album on the German Brutkasten label entitled ‘I Am A Free and Travelling Man’.
It featured ‘Little Woman’ and 10 other self-penned songs.
The track ‘Free & Travelling Man’ spoke of the freedom of the road, a belief expressed on the LP’s back cover on which John writes simply ‘Keep free and travelling.’

Jeff Thornley’s rare album from Delaware spans a variety of stylistic avenues – from straight pop rock to heavy rock to a country tune. He excels in the heavy rock department and both side openers are standout tracks. The production throughout has a reverbish sound, which gives it an underground flare.

Recently discovered excellent early 1970's Xian folk private on the Angelus label.
This is (in my opinion) one of the 10 most significant Christian folk records ever released.
About half the tracks have a darker Tim Buckley-like loner folk edge, but really the whole thing is great. This would certainly be listed in Acid Archives if they ever did a 3rd edition.

A rare and wonderful LP in a flawless condition ! Don't miss this one !

This was the first reissue of "The First" Emmet Spiceland LP released in 1968 on Page One.
I prefer this Hawk reissue because it omitted the spoken word segments between tracks that are present on the original Page One pressing (in which band members introduce the songs) making for a cleaner overall listening experience. 

Emmet Spiceland (Brian Byrne & his brother Michael Byrne and Donal Lunny) released a really great album of Irish Folk music !
