Though I'm living in Belgium this Belgian LP was totally unknown to me until I recently bought the record from my best friend ... and it's one of my greatest discoveries of these last years !

Paul Bond with Martin Carthy, Danny Carnahan & Robin Petrie - In Sight of the Mountain (Rare 1985 Folk LP from New Zealand on Cityfolk Record)

 

 

A beautiful pastoral folk gem from New Zealand singer/songwriter Paul Bond from his 1985 album 'In Sight of the Mountain' released on the private Hastings-based Cityfolk label.
The record is a beautiful listen full of catchy songwriting, evocative lyrics, exquisite finger-picked guitars and tender vocals.
Sparse songs based around vocal and guitars with touches of keyboards, electric bass, percussion, mandolin and flute.
Overall, it is a type of album that perfectly encapsulates the landscapes of rural New Zealand through song - the country's lush countryside, inland mountains and rugged coasts.
If you are a fan of folk baroque guitar playing and English folk legends such as Bert Jansch and John Renbourn then you will love this album.
Ideal for chilling out or late-night listening.

“Another new discovery from Canada, out of Alberta private Xian psych folk rock weirdness. Some dreamy moments here, but songs are mostly hard edge with plenty of electric leads, caveman drums, downer vocals create eccentric vibes here and there. Manguinot Ba Shira - ST (Very rare 1976 Argentinian Psych Folk LP on Londisc)

 

 

Manguinot Ba Shira is an extremely rare hebrew acid folk project located at Argentina, who recorded just one LP, at the private label Londisc. That record label was specialized in the release of hebrew stuff, both made in Argentina and in foreign countries. But maybe this is the most interesting Londisc release by far.

The music of Manguinot Ba Shira is very beautiful and complex at the same time. Male/female voices in hebrew, long instrumental parts, lots of flutes, acoustic guitars and even some synths. A must for lovers of rare acid folk, psych, prog and private pressings.
